Our associate Matt Clark recently participated in the GORUCK Challenge. Inspired by the most elite training offered to Special Forces soldiers and led by Green Berets, the GORUCK Challenge is a team event and never a race. Challenge cadre build each class into a team through collective conditions of mental and physical exhaustion. Classes are small, camaraderie is high, smiles are plentiful, and teamwork is paramount. Read Matt’s story below recounting his experience with the event!

My event started at 1:00 am on April 27th at the Nelson Atkins Art Museum. There were 19 people in my class total and I knew only one person in the class. We pushed, worked and rucked for 10.5 to 11 hours straight 8 to 9 hours of that in the cold wet rain and covered between 15-20 miles. Everyone carried with them a ruck(backpack) containing six bricks, a three litter hydration bladder and whatever else we deemed necessary to keep ourselves going. Most of our packs weighed between 35 to 50 pounds and they stayed on our backs the entire time. In addition to our packs we, had to carry two empty beer keg, a dozen eggs(which we could not break) and an American flag. Our course was unknown to us but took us all over the Plaza and downtown Kansas City. The focus was on turning 19 strangers into one complete team striving for the same goal. If one person failed everyone failed. Weather we were doing flutter kicks in the JC Nichols fountain on the plaza or doing pushups along Broadway Blvd everything had to be done together and as a team. Out of all the physical events I have done in my life this is arguably one of the if not the hardest event I have done in my life. It pushes you mentally and physically. That being said I can’t wait to do the next one! I encourage you to visit the GORUCK Challenge website to learn more and see a list of events throughout the country.

(February 25, 2013)– Adams Dairy Bank today announced the return of associate Matt Clark. A Blue Springs native, Clark began working at Adams Dairy Bank shortly after it opened in 2008. Clark left the bank last October to follow another endeavor, and has returned to service customers with expanded responsibilities in his Client Services Representative (CSR) role.

“We couldn’t be happier that Matt has come home to Adams Dairy Bank; the timing was perfect,” said David Chinnery, president and CEO. “We had just created a new position to focus on both the oversight of our teller area and the specialized needs of our business customers. In addition to being well-liked by the customers, his banking experience combined with his knowledge of our operations makes him a perfect fit for this position.”

Adams Dairy Bank has redefined local banking in the community. Associates work very hard to know the customers not just by name, but to understand their family, their business and their financial or banking needs. Clark will focus on how the bank delivers service to its customers, and carefully examine operating procedures from the bottom up to ensure service is being delivered efficiently and effectively in all customer engagements.

Clark attended Barstow High School, and pursued a professional pilot degree from University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg. Flying remains his passion, and he works part-time as a flight instructor. His many talents are not exclusive to aviation however; he is also a fourth degree black belt in Kenpo Karate, an achievement that took Clark 20 years of studying the art – another testament to his steadfast dedication.

BLUE SPRINGS, MO. (October 22, 2012) – What do a mechanical engineer and a credit analyst have in common? They’re one-in-the-same, in the form of David Barry, the newest member of the Adams Dairy Bank staff. Today the bank announced the addition of Barry as a credit analyst.

Prior to joining Adams Dairy Bank, Barry held mechanical designer roles of progressive responsibility at several local engineering firms. A graduate of Pittsburg State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Barry had always seen himself as a very focused individual with tremendous attention to detail; both necessary traits in the field of engineering.

After 13 years as a mechanical designer and eventually as a project manager on many significant mechanical and plumbing engineering projects, Barry chose to make a career change to the accounting field. He began his career change journey by graduating Magna Cum Laude from Park University with a Bachelor of Science in Management and Accounting.

“The transition from being a successful mechanical engineer to being a successful credit analyst and banking professional isn’t as distant as some might think,” said David Chinnery, president and CEO. “Often times in banking, as in engineering, there is no room for error. David’s discipline and focus on the details will be a tremendous asset to the bank and our customers.”

Missouri Treasurer Clint Zweifel stopped by Adams Dairy Bank this week to visit with our staff on his way back to Jefferson City. Treasurer Zweifel has been a frequent face at our bank over the past several years.

Earlier this year the treasurer conducted a small business roundtable with bank customers from the Blue Springs and Eastern Jackson County area. Business owners shared their concerns about the economy, while the Treasurer answered questions about the State’s programs and initiatives.

In addition to the Treasurer’s small business initiatives, Adams Dairy Bank has worked closely with the Treasurer’s office on the Linked Deposit Program as a Preferred Partner. The program creates a partnership between the State and lending institutions to provide low-interest loans to help create and retain jobs, expand the economy and strengthen communities statewide.

We are proud of our close relationship with the Missouri State Treasurer’s office and happy to help provide education and capital to area businesses. We look forward to more visits from Treasurer Zweifel in the future.

Farmers in Missouri will be eligible for some much needed help today, as State Treasurer Clint Zweifel has authorized all 114 counties and the City of St. Louis to be added to the list of counties eligible for emergency 24-hour approvals of low-interest Missouri Linked Deposit Program loans in response to the severe drought conditions.

Treasurer Zweifel’s announcement follows the Federal Declaration today from Agriculture Secretary Thomas Vilsack.

The emergency process is known as the Harmed-area Emergency Loan Priority system, or HELP. Individuals applying for agriculture loans are now eligible in every county of the state and the City of St. Louis. A complete and up-to-date list of eligible counties can always be found at www.treasurer.mo.gov/LinkedDeposit.aspx.

HELP eligible counties are determined by Treasurer Zweifel using executive orders, disaster requests, State Emergency Management Agency and Federal Emergency Management Agency information and Agricultural Disaster Designations and Declarations. Normal loan approval time is 10 days.

New accounts surge as consumers seek local banking options.

BLUE SPRINGS, MO. (April 17, 2012) – On the heels of three consecutive months of significant account growth, Adams Dairy Bank today announced new staff additions including: Christina Obenshain, Loan Processor; Ife Opakunle, Staff Accountant; and Tanner Griffin, Intern.

According to Adams Dairy Bank President & CEO David Chinnery, the unprecedented growth in the first quarter of 2012 is a good sign of growing economic conditions in and around the Blue Springs area. “Our new customers are local residents and business owners who understand the importance of banking with a locally owned institution. Buy local is now becoming bank local and the result has been the need for more staff,” added Chinnery.

Chinnery noted that all three additions to the bank staff come from the surrounding communities served by the bank. “Buy local, bank local translates to hiring local,” said Chinnery.

Christina Obenshain brings over twenty years of project management experience from a wide range of industries to her new position as Loan Processor. She has served in a variety of roles with locally-based companies such as H&R Block, Starlight Theatre and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City. Obenshain is a graduate of Central Missouri University in Warrensburg.

Ife Opakunle, a Blue Springs graduate at the top of her class, joins Adams Dairy Bank graduating this May from William Jewell College with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She completed an accounting internship, and additional voluntary educational opportunities to prepare her well for joining the team at Adams Dairy Bank.

Tanner Griffin is fulfilling an internship that will end when he graduates from Grain Valley High School next month. He is staying on through the summer to gain further insight to the financial services field. Griffin focused on advanced math, accounting and personal finance classes while at Grain Valley. A letterman in basketball and soccer, Griffin was a volunteer youth basketball coach as well.
